Fox Broadcasting was struggling with connecting to their viewers while simultaneously maintaining an outdated legacy environment that created a cluttered and confusing experience. This project focused on a complete redesign of Fox.com including an entire migration of the CMS backend and new architecture of the technology stack supporting the network. My goal was to bring users a focused video experience to highlight the studio’s television content while also supporting content to the devices that the users interacted with the most. We implemented a user-centered design approach with stakeholders and focus groups through the entire design and development process.
On the backend, the migration from Alfresco CMS to Drupal allowed Fox to improve how content was distributed across the entire digital ecosystem. This architectural change helped Fox centralize content management and produce additional TV Everywhere products. During this project, we designed the full architectural framework, participated in the design iterations, and managed the full transition of the redesign and Drupal CMS launch. Behind the scenes, we also implemented a new API layer using Apigee, supplying Fox the ability to publish unique content experiences across a dozen platforms including XBox, Roku, iOS, Android, Windows and Apple TV.
